These are my pictures of the school I work at and I took the first one right in the center and the second shot on the third line to the bottom left . I was surpized it was still a decent photo. I did not think it would look good.
I like the second picture better. The bright red stop sign adds interest too. I think it would have been even better without the telephone pole..like if you had stood somewhere in the middle of the road or the other side. To see the difference, just put your hand or something up to block the pole and you'll see that the busyness of the photo is cut down and it seems more serene (at least to me).
I do like how the road wraps around the building in the top one. The bottom shot is really good. Yes too bad for the telephone pole, but that does add some line interest *wink*
I find that the meaning of the photograph changes when the subject matter is placed in one of the thirds, versus being central. The first seems more about the house.. while the second seems more about the house on the street and its contribution to it. Interesting comparision.
